In accordance with Mass. General Laws c.19 § 25, the Center for Police Training in Crisis Intervention operates within the Department of Mental Health and is tasked with statewide scope for a multitude of services.
These include:

Establishing and supporting training of community policing and behavioral health for law enforcement

Serving as a clearinghouse for best practices in police interactions with behavioral health needs

Providing technical assistance to communities by establishing partnerships between law enforcement and human services providers

Establishing metrics for success and evaluation
-
Facilitating data maintenance
-
Conducting relevant research
